Hello Friends,
It's Bill here....Erin continues to experience abdominal pain and had a fitful night last night unable to find a comfortable position. They increased her basal rate for the pain med overnight but it does not seem to have helped much. She slept on and off through most of the day yesterday and struggled to get 2 laps in because the doctor had stressed the importance of getting up and moving around. We should hear results from the MRI and the X-ray of her abdomen today. We are just praying that they will indicate no major issues but provide clarity in what is required to alleviate Erin's pain. While she is getting nourishment through her line, she still has only been able to drink water and juice. She took one pill last night and threw up 15 minutes later. The good news is that her numbers look good. Her counts are all holding their own and the numbers associated with her liver and kidney functions are good. That is a great praise! Now if we could just figure out what is causing her pain.
Yesterday evening we were informed that the emergency room here at Emory had received a number of patients with Swine Flu and that they were implementing increased precautions on the transplant floor requiring masks and gowns for eveyone and limiting visitors to 2 persons in the room at a time. They also indicated that no students including high school or college were allowed to visit. This of course means Laura cannot be around Erin now and although they said teachers were okay, Amanda and Kyle are afraid of bringing anything in that might be contagious. Please pray for all those affected by this Flu and that it's spread can be contained.
At this point there's not much more to report. We'll update when we get further results from the doctor. In the meantime, thank you for the continued prayers and support!
"O Lord, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief. Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before you. The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in darkness like those long dead. So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed. I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done. I spread out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. "Selah" Answer me quickly, O Lord; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Rescue me from my enemies, O Lord, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. For your name's sake, O Lord, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant." - Psalms 143: 1-12
Blessings,
Bill
Update, The results are in, there is no VOD or obstruction of any kind. Halleluia, lots of happy tears here. Thank you Lord!! There is some inflamation in her liver and gallbladder and lymph nodes but they said that it is drug related and will fix itself. The fluid shift she is experiencing with the ascites is common after transplant and will take time to balance out. All good news. Thanks for the extra prayers. We are humbled each day by the love and encouragement of the body of Christ. blessings, janet

Oh Father, our hearts cry out for Erin, Janet, Bill, Laura, Amanda, Kyle and the rest of the family. Father please show mercy today and lift Erin from this pain. We know You are healing her from the inside out, but we are weak and we want to "see" her progress. From her head to her toes like a wave of relief we ask for your healing power to banish her discomfort and to correct her diseased body. Father, we know that all things are in Your power and control. There is nothing too big or too small for YOU!
Those of us on the outside of that hospital room long to be inside where we can hug, cry, laugh and celebrate with the Blonshines. I pray Father for the loneliness and powerlessness they are feeling to be replaced with Your peace - the one that none of understands, but we all long for. We all cry out to You on Erin's behalf knowing that You hear us. May we reach out to strangers with the same intensity as we do with the Blonshines. To be a blessing to you today is our one desire.
We love You Lord and are ever grateful that You love us. Amen
Thankful for the update and the good news!!! Praying for the pain to ease up for Erin today. Love you guys.
Love you all.
Praying for Erin daily.
I am going to give Laura her EKG tomorrow in lab. We'll pretend that we are in a hospital since Laura can't come there.
Stay strong...so much good and glory is coming out of this. Just wait till you can look back and see it all!
Thanks for the update! I thank God for good news on the test results. Still praying for her to be relieved from the pain and able to eat and drink normally.
I LOVE "happy tears"--they are the best! I am so glad that the tests are showing positive results, and I know that they will find definitive results soon for the stomach pain.
What a beautiful prayer listed by someone dear--yes, we do long to be with you all in that room hugging, crying, laughing, and just celebrating God's glory with you. We will be diligent with our prayers for all of you--thank you for guiding us on what to pray for specifically. We love you!
My stomach went from knots to release while reading todays blog. I am so-o-o- happy that the test results are good news! May God continue to deliver GOOD NEWS your way and take away Erin's pain and allow her to eat and drink again. Sending prayers your way-Much Love-Cindy

You have not left our prayers. Thank you for the updates.
I was just thinking...if you're not already, you should be listed under the word "endurance" in Wikipedia. Hang in there, sweet Erin (Graft, Baby, Graft!!), and all of the Blonshine Family.
XOXOXO,
Ted & Kathy

Thank you for sharing your and Erin's struggles daily. It is a honor to be able to go to God on all of your behalf with specifics. He knows what needs to be done but he loves to hear us ask for it. Your faith and searching of the scriptures is awesome. Praying for all of you - Tracy Bishop & Cori
