Good morning, Thank you everyone for your encouragement and love. Erin feels your prayers and is strengthened by them through Christ. Erin slept pretty good last night, we love antinausea meds that help her sleep while the chemo is running. She has received a lot of cards and posters to fill her room. The staff thinks it looks like a dorm room. :) It brightens everyones day to see such a cheery room. Her sisters even put a big smiley face sign on the ceiling for her to see. They put the bed all the way up and Laura stood on tippy toe to tape it up there. Ain't no mountain high enough!!
WE found out yesterday that she did not get the flip of the coin for the new drug in this clinical trial. I Praise God for that, it must mean she doesn't need it and that will be less insult to her liver. There will be one more time to flip the coin for that drug in a few weeks, so we will see then. the drug is Mylotarg. However, God is firmly in control, so they can flip all the coins they want but we will always be in His hands. Please continue to pray for wisdom for the Drs and us. Erin needs prayer for her appetite as well. Thanks, you are an essential part of the team!! love, janet

Good morning Erin:) I'm glad you are sleeping a little better lately. I have been praying for your physical strength the past few days, and I will start praying for your appetite today. I so appreciate these updates. Have a good day my sweet, kind-hearted friend.

Hi Erin!
Just want you to know that the Annapolis Stahls have family and friends praying for you every day! I think of you often throughout the day and think it would be really cool if we all walked and prayed when you took your laps around the hospital. Keep smiling that beautiful smile. You are LOVED!
Verse for the day:
"I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you."
- Jeremiah 31:3
Lots of people praying and asking about you. Can't wait until our movie night with Matthew! :-)

Hey Erin! I just found out about your diagnosis from a friend that I go to school with here at Samford, Rachel Berganski. It's amazing that we both know you. You are an amazing woman and you have an incredibly strong spirit. You are such an amazing witness and truly demonstrate to all that the Lord is in control of your life. Erin, although I haven't seen you since I moved to Birmingham, I love you and I am praying for you. Are you allowed to have visitors that are not family?
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

Hello Sunshine!
Man....what an AWESOME retreat! Thank you so much for being an essential part in the planning of such a wonderful weekend. You were missed so much, but it was incredible how we all knew your presence was there. We all love you so much and look forward to the day when smiling face shines on us.
I hear from a good source the "Erin Heist" will work for Spring Break and "Dr. Butz" will not foil the plan.
We love you and are praying for you.
Love,
Margaret, Kara, Kate and Pete
Erin, I heard about you through Kathy's cousin, Jennie Self. I'm Bev Self, her son's wife and I am at home right now recovering from a bone marrow transplant which I had in August here in NYC. I just wanted to let you know that we will be praying for you and that as a survivor I can tell you have the spirit and love around you to make it through this difficult time. There were times when I felt very alone but God was always with me and my experiences have served to strengthen my faith and hope. Like you I have wonderful family support and if you ever want to chat to me feel free to email or call. beverleyself@hotmail.com Tel:718 797 3505
Hi Janet and Erin,

I'm glad to have this blog so I can keep up with your progress. You have been in our prayers, and we will continue to lift you up. Erin-
Kathy Matyac is my mom's cousin. I heard about your situation through her. I am just amazed when I read your site at the love that is here. I have been praying for you and will continue to pray for you as you go through this trial. The Lord is so good! Even when we wonder why??, he still takes us in His hand and carries us through.
I pray that HE gives you the strength and endurance that you need to get through this rough road. Keep your eyes fixed on Him for HE IS faithful.
Romans 3:3-5 ..also we rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffereing produces perseverence; perserverence, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given to us.
May you and your family find peace and hope as you endure this trial.
Keep the faith,
Tracy Furrey
Hi Erin,
Just stopping by (by blog, anyway) to let you know that we think about you and pray for you all the time. There is always something that makes me think of you and your beautiful smile and spirit. I'm glad to hear the the anti-nausea meds are working, so that the chemo meds can do their job. Be brave through Christ who gives you strength. I have this scripture on my refrigerator that I cut out from one of our FUMC newsletters a long time ago, and I say this prayer for you over and over..... "A prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well" - James 5:15 You will get well!!!!!!
Love and Blessings,
Janice and Natalie Lutz
Hey erin!
it's Mara Stewart here! i soooo missed having you on the retreat it was a blast, but it was good to know from Andrew that you planned on getting through it. i started out the week all upset about myself b/c i just got contacts and life has been so much harder, but then i heard about you and what you had to go through and i was so worried. i heard much earlier than most of my friends b/c my Aunt Pam ,Uncle Kenny, and baby cousin Rebecca called right away to tell us. today i had to stay home b/c over the weekend i caught a sinus and eye infection which means i can't see you anytime soon:(. i thought i was going to have to get my finger pricked and i am a really bid sissy about that, but then my mom said to think about you and how you probably got stuck with needles every day and that really changed my attitude b/c i look up to you and admire you and if you can do it i know i could, then i didn't get stuck what a bummer! i got myself all worked up and nervous about some silly thing that could actually save my life! i love you so much and i know GOD DOES TOO!

Erin Jr.,
I am writing to you from grad school--literally, I am listening to a lecture right now. Things are going okay at school, just hectic as always. Kristen and I are thinking maybe Saturday to come see you if you're up to it. I hope you are getting plenty of sleep--I have been up twice a night with the new puppy, so I know I am not! Okay, eat some dinner and get some sleep--that's a direct order!
Erin Sr. :)
Erin....
Glad you are getting some sleep...we will put 'appetite' on the prayer list. We are enjoying thinking of your decorated room! I knew those sweet sisters of yours would think of everything.
Love you...and love to you Janet, Bill, Amanda and Laura,
Vicki and David

Hey Janet and Erin:
I just read about what is going on and I wanted to let you guys know that I am praying for you and that I send my love to you! Be strong(as I know you are). Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you!
With love and Prayers!
Good Evening, Miss Erin:
So we survived the retreat without you... but just barely. You were missed! The kids talked about you and mentioned you in small group closing prayers. I'm sure Andrew or Kristen gave you the details of the trip. Hope Kristen told you of the decision she and Cindy Sykes made at 1am Sunday to call Dr. Ken for assistance with a little medication problem they had. No Problem... The Doctor is always on call.
And since it's Monday, the staff at Panera are wondering where you are. I see a "dose" of soup in your future. Let me know when to make the delivery.
Got to get back to my preliminary Spring Break Escape planning. I mean, we've got three months. What could go wrong? Dr. Butz mentioned using a helicopter this time. Any idea where the landing pad at Emory is? Keep your eyes open. Hope he plans on getting a real pilot. If Dr. Butz is planning on learning to fly a chopper in three months, ya'll are going without me.
And whats this Natalia tells me about Rev. Rip leading the 8th grade girls group for you temporarily? If you agreed to that, we need to order you a psychological evaluation. Things they are giving you might have affected your normal, reasonable way of thinking.
Love and Prayers!
Dr. Ken.
Hey Erin!
I love you sooo much! I want you to know that I have been, and still will be praying for you. We have been praying for you at church too :)
Thank you for being such an amazing person! You're the best!!!
love, Laura
Erin B!
We serve one incredible God! I feel like He is aligning your needs with my prayers. For the past two days I have had it on my heart to pray for you appitite. Everytime I sit down to a meal I say an extra prayer for you to have a desire to eat. God also has been waking me in the middle of the night to pray for you. He wants to make sure you are being lifted up 24/7. I have no doubt that you are. If you're up to it I want to come again tomorrow. I have no classes and no real homework yet. I'll try to think of a good theme!
Love,
Jenna Mon

Erin,
Mrs. Lackey and I are praying for you and want to come see you soon! I was relieved to see your Mom's post that the anti-nausea drugs were helping out and that you could rest better now so you can heal.
You are such a blessing to all you meet and are so special in our hearts. I hope you are still sleeping now (It's still only about 7:30 am!) and that you have a good day:)
I can just imagine how adorable your room must look and can totally see Laura up on her tippytoes decorating the ceiling.
Love to you and all your family,
Ms. Hannon
Bear,
I love you. As soon as my stupid tonsil free mouth calms down I will be visiting again. I pray for you constantly, and as soon as I'm done an overwhelming sense of peace surrounds me making me certain that the Lord has His angels covering every inch of your room, your doctors, medicine, family, etc. I am certain that the Lord has great things in store for you. I've been praying a lot for healing in general. I think you would be strengthened by reading 1 Peter. It has your name written all over it.
I hope the verses are helping. I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for your February verses!
I have funny Ashley on crazy pills stories for you!! See you soon. I love you E.
Thinking of you constantly,
Q
To Erin and all the family,
This note comes from Florida. My name is Candi Willis. My parents (the Peters) and your grandparents have been friends for over 60 years and I grew up with your Mom and Aunt Jodi (that's what we called Jo Ellen) I have a daughter, Pam, that lives in GA and your Mom was one of the nurses when she was in the hospital there. When your Mom came in Pam told her "I don't know who you are, but I can tell you are family." So, all that to tell you we are praying for you ALL and we are family.
We have gone on mision trips all over the world and I'm contacting friends in Greece and Romania to be praying for you too.
When you are better, you'll need a trip to Disneyworld and come see us!!
God Bless You All!
Candi and family

Hello Sweet Erin,
I so enjoy reading the updates that your mom provides. I get the girls off, breath for a moment, then I sit down with my coffee and check up on "Our Erin." I pray that the appetite that I don't seem to have a problem with can transfer to you! : )
Take care sweet girl- we miss you!

Erin,Kathy Matyac is my cousin. My husband and I used to live in Suwanee. We live in Sun City West, AZ now. You can mark the greater Phoenix area on your map, because I put you on my prayer chain. It has people from coast to coast.
Our daughter-in-law, Bev Self, is a cancer survivor and went through a stem cell transplant last summer. It was a hard fight, but like you, she had faith and was (and still is) surrounded by people who prayed and loved her through it. It's your fight, but know that all the prayers being lifted up for you will give you the strength to go to battle and come through this.
We're keeping your family and friends in our prayers, too.
God Bless, Mike and Jenny Self
